Alex Jaques
As a designer and project lead with over 20 years experience of creative industry experience, I work with client teams to help them envisage and create new products and services that are designed with users to be accessible, inclusive and empowering. I particularly enjoy the challenge of finding simple design solutions to complex problems.
After finishing my masters degree in Engineering Design I worked for a year in an e-learning consultancy before co-founding the digital design agency, Creative Jar. In the following 15 years, I led design projects for multinationals like HERE Technologies, McAfee, Shimano and Hilton Hotels. During this time, I became increasingly involved with (and passionate about) UX and service design and in 2016 founded Cogworx with Gareth, Charlotte and Douglas.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have worked across numerous sectors including government, defence, automotive, financial services, education and e-commerce. This exposure has given me a broad experience and a depth of knowledge that I bring with me to every new project.
I am an advocate of design thinking, user-centred design and lean methodologies. I also have a passionate interest in how emerging technologies and new ideas can be harnessed to drive innovation, create disruptive user experiences and build sustainable business models.
In my time away from Cogworx, I enjoy hunting for fossils on the Jurassic coast, playing strategic board games and exploring the Chiltern Hills and beyond on my mountain bike.

I’ve worked with Alex now on multiple high profile projects and frankly he’s epic! He brings heaps of experience and design flair to bear on a project. But the key bit for me, is he also really understands the need to be pragmatic about ultimately what we will need the developers to build out.
